THE LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL URBAN AFRICA
31 MARCH – 5 SEPTEMBER
See Africa through the eyes of architect David Adjaye. This exhibition of vivid large-scale photographic projections reveals urban Africa afresh, confronting the public’s scant knowledge of the continent’s cities and documenting their growth. Integral to Adjaye’s ongoing research into new patterns of urbanism, his journey through Africa takes in every one of its 53 capital cities. Traces of a colonial past are juxtaposed with the unofficial settlements and townscapes that surround new cities buzzing with the energy of the present. Born in Africa, based in London and building globally, Adjaye should have just the eye for such an epic journey.

DESIGN BY PERFORMANCE
14 MARCH – 30 MAY
This showcase for contemporary design focuses not on the finished product, but on the production process. Designers such as Studio Glithero, Studio Libertiny and Martino Gamper demonstrate that such processes can be performances, and as such are affected by their environment, situation and audience. This makes for an exhibition of unpredictable character which takes place in a space open to action and change.
