THE LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL IMM COLOGNE 2010
18 – 24 JANUARY
The week-long design extravaganza that is IMM Cologne begins with an big inaugural bash on Monday 18 January. The D3 design talents showcase is usually well worth a visit and features alongside the “Boulevard of Innovations” and Pure Village sections. Architectural, gallery and gastronomic tours of the city will also be running as part of the festival, but be sure to book early as places get snapped up quick (there isn’t much to do in Cologne after hours). If you manage to trawl through all 11 halls of exhibition space, try to get across town to the Passagen fringe events as well.

MAISON&OBJET
22-26 JANUARY
New Year design stimulation from the biannual Parisian fair. There was no detailed plan of events available when we went to press, but apparently the emphasis is on “stability, renewed serenity and harmonious sensuality”. No, we don’t know what that means either – maybe something to do with wind chimes. If you get through the seven halls of exhibitions take a look at the shops and galleries around the city which usually also get involved.
